Week Fifty: Amanda Kasper

Write about your top 5 favorite Today Voice prompts.

When looking back at all the writing I’ve done in the last twelve months for The Today Voice, I think about how much has changed for me, for my life, for my passion for and ability to express my thoughts through prose. Picking just five of my favorites was challenging; you’ll notice they are mostly in the second half of the year – I felt like they were deeper sentiments and harsher truths.

Week 49: Write about a time when a relationship ended.

Untitled1

but for real, how fantastic is this?

“There comes a time when the world gets quiet and the only thing left is your own heart. So you’d better learn the sound of it. Otherwise you’ll never understand what it’s saying.”

…Sarah Dessen

Week 46: Write about an insecurity you have or once had

Untitled2

Don’t ever let someone tell you
 that you can’t do something.
Not even me. you got a dream,
you gotta protect it.
People can’t do something themselves,
they wanna tell you that you can’t do it.
you want something?

 Go get it. Period.

..Will Smith, The Pursuit of Happyness..

Week 45: Write About Anything

Untitled3

closing time,

open all the doors and let you out into the world…

so gather up your jackets, move it to the exits

I hope you have found a friend

closing time,

every new beginning comes

 from some other beginnings end

[semisonic, closing time]

Week 35: Who was the first person who died in your life, and how did that make you feel?

                  Untitled4

There’s no escape

So keep me safe

This feels so unreal

Nothing comes easily

Fill this empty space

Nothing is like it seems

Turn my grief to grace

..grace..

Week 33: What’s the hardest thing you’ve ever done?

Untitled5

I realize that when your heart breaks you have to fight like hell to stay alive because you are that pain you feel. That’s life. the confusion && tears. That’s there to remind you that somewhere out there is something better && that something better is worth fighting for.

-One Tree Hill
